Write a 2000-word submission that analyses an Organ at Risk( I have chosen large bowel) contoured this semester in more detail Use a similar format to one of the QUANTEC papers to explore the following aspects: Organ Overview – what the organ does, it’s cellular structure and the implications for patients arising from radiation-induced injury to the organ Cell Characteristics – a summary of the primary cell types and/or cellular characteristics that influence radiosensitivity, alongside any alpha-beta values as a basic indicator of organ radiosensitivity Contouring Guidelines – recommendations for accurate contouring, and any other issues associated with planning, organ preparation or IGRT practices to be employed by RTs to reduce avoidable side effects to the patient Side Effects & Dose Constraints – a summary of the key endpoints (both acute and late) or side effects of concern, and their associated doses in Gray. Remember to consider how various fractionation schedules may impact these effects. Also provide an indication on the organ type (ie. serial or parallel) and how all this information informs any dose optimisation objectives you would use during Inverse Planning and DVH evaluation.
