Discuss The Fragmented Self in the Modernist Fiction of Samuel Beckett and Virginia Woolf.

All details are in the word document that I have uploaded. But, I’m going to write here. Instructions for my order:My order: to write a PhD proposal in English literature.Proposed topic:”The Fragmented Self in the Modernist Fiction of Samuel Beckett and Virginia Woolf”*Note: I am open to any edit or change in the topic to be more accurate and most suitable.I have contacted a supervisor who is interested in the following areas:Samuel Beckett studiesModernist LiteratureLiterature and PsychologyPhilip Roth studiesJames Joyce studiesVirginia Woolfe studiesInitially, I had decided to focus my dissertation solely on Samuel Beckett’s literary engagement with the crisis of subjectivity, as he is widely recognised as one of the most prominent modernist writers who explored the fragmented nature of the self through his innovative narrative techniques. However, upon further reflection, I believe a comparative analysis of Beckett’s works alongside those of Virginia Woolf would offer a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of the modernist representation of the fragmented self.Woolf and Beckett, despite their distinct styles and backgrounds, share a common preoccupation with the destabilisation of traditional conceptions of identity and consciousness. Both authors were deeply influenced by the philosophical and psychological shifts of the early 20th century, and their works reflect a profound scepticism towards the notion of a unified, stable self. By examining the convergences and divergences in Woolf and Beckett’s literary depictions of the fragmented self, I aim to uncover the diversity of modernist approaches to the crisis of subjectivity and to contribute to the scholarly discourse on the relationship between literature and psychology during this pivotal period. *Note: Till now, I’m thinking of the following novels, but I think I need to add more novels as it’s a PhD project. However, the novels are:-Samuel Beckett’s works include Molloy (1951), Waiting for Godot (1953), and Endgame (1957).-Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway (1925) and To the Lighthouse (1927)Nevertheless, my order is to write a proposal on the proposed topic above, and the proposal should have:(Overview, background and context, research aims, research questions and argument, methodology, significance of the study, and reference list.) *Note:_ I want when I read the proposal to have a clear sense of how it’s contributing to the existing (and enormous) body of scholarship around those authors (and/or the issues their writing raises) – what intervention this PhD research would be making, how does it relate to existing scholarship, and why is it necessary and important?_ Please let me know if you have any suggestions for further refining the topic and research approach. I’m open to your input to ensure the dissertation is well-conceived and executed.
